In other news, GOOD ENOUGH was selected, along with my good friend C. Leigh Purtill's "ALL ABOUT VEE" (Razorbill '08), for the 2009 California Collection for High Schools. California Readers is a group of educators, librarians, authors, artists, parents, book sellers, and business representatives whose main goal is to connect California authors and artists with students and teachers in the Los Angeles area. The guidelines in which to be selected for this honor ranges from having to be a California author or illustrator to meeting the criteria of excellent literature to raising awareness about issue important to California. Thank you, California Readers for this awesome honor!

In the meantime, I have spent the month of August either glued to my sofa watching The Olympics (USA! USA!) or glued to my chair, working on some new projects. If you're curious as to what I've been working since GOOD ENOUGH, well, it's a lot of stuff. I have to write a one-act play for my TV agents because as a TV writer, you always have to have a fresh original "spec writing sample" for your agents to shop around to various TV shows in order to get you a TV staffing job or writing assignment. (Think of the spec script/play as your "calling card.") I am also working on my next YA novel, and I am in the brainstorming stages of a possible middle grade series and a middle grade novel (stand alone).

Speaking of writing, I hear my chair calling my name. LOL. Tongue outTime to enter the writing batcave. I hope to see some of you at the Readergirlz live author chat this Thurs. Sept. 18th at 6 PM PST/9 PM EST. I'll remind everyone as we get closer to the date.

Hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend!

xo

Hey Jill! Thanks for your kind comments. The ALA every year puts together a list of books to be considered for the final list of the BBYAs. My book was selected in February. The list gets new nominations every month, and they whittle it down to the final 30 or so in December or January, so keep your fingers crossed GOOD ENOUGH stays on that list! But I was happy no matter what to be included in the list now! ;)

What a lot of great Paula-news in one blog! Many congrats and thanks for sharing the photos! Looks like SCBWI was a lot of fun - then again, things always look like fun when you're there. You have this charming smile that looks like where you are is the most funnest place to be!

Thanks for the mention of my book and me! You're so sweet!

Cheers~
